Learn about the steps you can take to plan for your future and protect your property, possessions, and loved ones.
This event will include an overview of estate planning concepts and documents such as a will and probate, trust, healthcare directives, power of attorney, and more.
DC residents will be able to work with legal volunteers to complete a "property check-up" to review the deed and tax records on the property you own or have inherited. Participants will also have the opportunity to complete on-site intake and may be paired with a lawyer at no cost from a participating pro bono legal organization based on interests, needs, and other eligibility criteria, or receive referrals to private attorneys.
This event is in collaboration with DC Affordable Law Firm, D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center, Legal Counsel for the Elderly, LegalAidDC, and Christian Legal Aid.
Community Partners are Housing Counseling Services, Latino Economic Development Center, Lamond-Riggs Citizens Association, DC Small Business Development Center and Home Care Partners.
