The greatest source of generational wealth is the transfer of property by inheritance. This workshop explores DC's inheritance structure.
If a decedent dies without a Will, where does their property go?
You might believe their assets go to their spouse or to their children. Or, you might have heard that the government seizes any property not distributed by Will.
In this workshop, we'll debunk inheritance myths and explore DC's probate process. Learn to distinguish when probate is required, how long DC probate takes, and what to do if you're named Personal Representative of someone's estate. This session will be best for heirs of an estate or those who are or will be responsible for managing a loved one's estate in the future.
When the greatest source of generational wealth is the transfer of property like houses, land, coops, and condos, understanding the process is the first step to helping you and your family secure your wealth.
This event is in collaboration with the DC Affordable Law Firm.
