Earned Income Tax Credit Awareness Day

Last Date:

Location:
online
Details:

In honor of EITC Awareness Day, DISB and the United Way of the National Capital Area (UWNCA) are hosting this virtual event promoting this tax credit to District residents. Through a collaboration with the United Way of the National Capital Area, qualified residents can work with trained IRS professionals and volunteers—for free—to get a credit potentially worth thousands of dollars.

The EITC, one of the nation’s largest and most effective anti-poverty programs, is a refundable tax credit.

Are you eligible?

For the 2022 tax year, households with incomes not exceeding $59,187 can qualify for the EITC, which could put up to $6,935 into the pockets of eligible taxpayers.

In past years, the amount of the DC EITC was 40% of the amount of the federal earned income tax credit.

That percentage has been increased to 70% for tax year 2022!
