Financial Literacy Month
Whereas, attaining financial literacy and maintaining smart financial habits is vital to helping District of Columbia residents achieve their financial goals and improve their quality of life; and
Whereas, consumer education promotes consumer protection as it enhances financial stability by encouraging fiscal responsibility; and
Whereas, our vision for financial empowerment and prosperity for all includes providing opportunities to learn a full range of money management principles, from budget planning to planning for retirement; and
Whereas, the DC Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking, other DC agencies,and partner organizations' programs offer Washingtonians a fair shot at improving financial literacy, building wealth, reducing debt, and guarding against financial fraud:
Now, Therefore, I, The Mayor of Washington, DC, do hereby proclaim April 2023 as "Financial Literacy Month" in Washington, DC.
