The District of Columbia Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB) urges residents to be on guard against investment adviser Capital Management Group (CMG) and its associate Vamsi Atreya (Atreya), who have been involved in securities-related violations in the District of Columbia.
An investigation into CMG’s and Atreya’s records has revealed violations of the District of Columbia’s securities laws. DISB has issued an order for Atreya and his associates to cease and desist from conducting unregistered investment adviser activities in or from the District of Columbia and to pay fines. DISB has revoked the securities licenses of CMG and Atreya and they have been barred from engaging in the business of securities in the District of Columbia for not less than two years. Additional information regarding the DISB Order is located at disb.dc.gov, Newsroom/Public Notices.
Based on the Department’s investigation, it is believed that CMG and Atreya may still be operating in the District of Columbia despite the Cease-and-Desist Order. Most recently, DISB received complaints from consumers that CMG and Atreya failed to maintain and monitor investment accounts.
If you believe you have been a victim of CMG, Atreya or of any other financial fraud, please contact the DISB Enforcement and Consumer Protection Division at (202) 727-8000.
