DISB Guides Help Consumers Compare Prescription Costs and Understand Benefits

PillsDISB “Rx Guides” create transparency for out-of-pocket drug costs for plans sold on DC Health Link

The District of Columbia Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB) publish guides to help consumers compare the out-of-pocket costs for commonly prescribed drugs for the health conditions listed below.

Insurance companies divide prescription drugs into tiers based on varying levels of cost and each insurance company uses different language to explain its drug tiering. The guides provide a reference consumers can use alongside the health plan's Summary of Benefits and Coverage to compare out-of-pocket prescription costs.

The guides help create transparency in the marketplace by allowing consumers to compare out-of-pocket prescription expenses.

If you have any questions about the DISB RX Guides, please contact DISB's Insurance Bureau at (202) 727-8000.
