In continuing its focus on consumers and protecting their financial interests, the DC Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB) will host its first of many community-based town hall meetings with guest panelists from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the US Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Federal Reserve Bank in Ward 8. DISB is the District government agency responsible for regulating the financial-services industry here, and for protecting its residents from financial fraud and abuse. WHAT: The DC DISB Town Hall Meeting is an educational forum for city residents that will bring them face-to-face with local and federal financial regulators. Residents will learn about choosing the right insurance based on their families’ needs, banking services, spotting fraud and the tools to protect them, preventing home foreclosures, and the various financial literacy and investor education resources.
