Consumer Alert: Beware of Loan Collection Scam Emails

The below cited entities are suspected of perpetrating a fraudulent scam via email and using an unidentified D.C. telephone number. An email received by a local resident indicated that the resident had been approved for a loan and should contact the D.C. number “NOW.”  A caller followed up with an additional email threatening the victim with a lawsuit if the resident did not pay a past due loan amount.
