Mayor Vincent C. Gray will proclaim April as “Financial Literacy Awareness Month” and name the new members of the District’s Financial Literacy Council during his Biweekly Press Briefing.

BACKGROUND:
Financial literacy is a basic building block of prosperity in the United States, but many of the District’s most disadvantaged residents never learn the basics of how to build and protect their assets and credit or how to recover effectively from financial setbacks. Mayor Gray will focus on this issue in his press briefing by proclaiming Financial Literacy Awareness Month. The Financial Literacy Council will help guide the District’s efforts to improve residents’ financial literacy.
