District’s Health Reform Implementation Committee Hosts Public Meeting

The public is invited to offer comments and ask questions about the federal health care reform law.

Please join the members of the Health Reform Implementation Committee at a public meeting to offer comment, or to ask questions about the implementation of the federal health care reform law in the District of Columbia. Everyone is welcome. The four-member committee, which was appointed by Mayor Adrian M. Fenty, comprises the directors of District agencies that are on the frontlines of health care reform. They are co-chairs, Commissioner Gennet Purcell, Esq., of the DC Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking and Dr. Julie Hudman of the Department of Health Care Finance. Also on the committee are Dr. Pierre Vigilance of the Department of Health, and Clarence H. Carter of the Department of Human Services. At the meeting, the committee will review its charge and responsibilities, offer an overview of the health care reform law, the impact of the law on the District of Columbia, and the city’s accomplishments regarding implementation to date. Join the committee on Thursday, August 19, 2010, from 2 to 4 pm, at the Benning Neighborhood Library, Large Meeting Room, 3935 Benning Road, NE.
