Research indicates that the achievement gap is really a vocabulary gap. Comprehension of text is dependent on the conceptual understanding of words. This session for Pre-K –Grade 3 teacher trainers will focus on research-based instructional routines that promote word consciousness; build background knowledge; and enhance resource materials.
